Type SL Snakecharmer, the early version with upturned thumbs.
This puppet is shown in the book, 'Pelham Puppets- A Photographic Guide Volume 1 on page 285.
It has the cream suit with turban. The hat still has the red feathers intact, I would think they may have been replaced as they are not as aged as they should be and the discoloured turban looks to have been done by damp red feathers in the past possibly.
The overall condition is good, the suit does have some age related marks and the turban has some discolouration especially at the back where it looks to have been damp at some time.
There is a feint rattle inside the head, probably a piece of glue has broken off inside the hollow head, this is a common occurrence and doesn't suggest a problem.
The flute has sparkle decoration on it, later versions didn't have any sparkle!
The snake is well painted with no damage. He has a long tongue and two metal prongs for teeth. He is attached to a brass ring.
Box has Snake Man hand written on one end and probably isn't original to the puppet, although era is correct. Poor condition Pelpop letter included.
