TYPE SM PARSON
Type SM Parson, one of the rarest SM type characters from early 1950's with large composition hands.
He is in used and altered condition.
The Parson has been a different character on stage and so, his dog collar has been removed and the black shirt under the suit has been cut away from the trousers. The small piece of material is still in the box.The wood upper body part under has been painted white to look like a white shirt. The piece of original shirt material has been cut away so is frayed but there might be enough to make the shirt again and attach a new dog collar.
The jacket is good, the trousers have a few small holes as shown.
The felt hat has one very small pin prick hole, otherwise is good. He has real fur hair underneath, please see images. I think the fur hair is replacement, although it was believed to be original.
Eyes are looking upwards, special to this character. The face paintwork is very good.
He retains a felt tongue.
The mouth is stiff and needs attention to work properly. His head flops forward so I think the screw eyes need some adjusting.
The black shirt replaced and white tape around his neck. I would probably try to change the hair to flock or tight curly hair, but maybe I'm wrong, I have seen this character with real fur hair before at auction. There is some black paint at the back of the head and I'm not sure where that has come from.
Strung on SM type control with black thread.
Some images have been lightened to show any damage on the dark clothes.
Box is in shelf worn condition. Stamped Type SM Parson one end.
I think he could be altered back to his original self fairly easily by a collector although he does sound as if he has a lot of faults in this write up. I've tried to add lots of images of where I see the defects.
