TYPE SL LETTICE LEEFE
Type SL Lettice Leefe is a character from 'The Girl' comic in the 1950's.
She is in lovely condition for such a rare puppet, made for a short time. She even still has both big bold ribbons in her hair. If you are lucky enough to find this character, make sure the ribbons are red spotted as she has in her comic strip drawings, if not, they might be replacements.
She has an oversized moulded composition head, the paintwork is very good, she wears her glazed appearance spectacles. She has amazing face paint with goofy front teeth showing over her red lips.
These heads are extremely prone to cracks, but she is perfect with no signs of any hairlines appearing. ( The hair is quite fly away and if you see something looking like a hairline, it probably is that... a line from a hair! )
Her black hair is still styled in plaits and has two large cotton spotted ribbons tying them up.
The school uniform is very good, even the blouse is still white and has no damage. The red school tie is excellent.
The navy pinafore has no damage, it is a little creased from storage, but there are two pin prick extra holes at one knee area, where she must have been restrung at some time, these are small. She wears a black ribbon as a belt around her waist, also with no damage.
She has small composition hands and wooden legs, the black shoes show very little signs of use.
She is strung on coloured strings on the first style control with coloured buffers.
There is very little signs of rust in general and the screw eyes on the buffers are the same.
The box is not stamped and is in worn condition.
Instructions for the anti-tangle device new control is included.
The original invoice from the Pelham Puppet company is included, this was bought directly from Bob Pelham and dates to 1957. This is included in the sale.
(The Parson which is for sale on the shop, is also on this invoice, bought by the same enthusiast when he was a child)
